Genius!!

Isn't this the greatest invention yet??? What a lifesaver this has been for those warm weather days! Plus it eliminates the sticky fingers! An added bonus: if you flip it over it will hold an ice cream cone too! Now, why didn't I think of this...:)

Easter pics

It's that time again for our annual Easter portraits. What a fun time Ms. Abby had during our photo shoot. She had so much fun with the "fake" rabbits that she gave them names...Peter and Cotton. She even wanted to bring them home. :)

A potty story...

This is a funny story that I'm sure several of you can relate to...

For the past several months I have been working with Abby on her potty training. We've had very little success and once we moved we hit a wall. She refused to cooperate and I just gave up for a while. I knew this move was a transition for all of us so I knew I should probably wait until we finally settled into our new surroundings. Besides, trying to potty train in a hotel room was not my idea of fun.

Well last week I made a point of giving it a go again and get this girl potty trained!!! Since it was Spring Break and we had no special plans I knew this would be the time! She had several accidents the first few days but as we progressed she did better.

She went to school on Tuesday with her "big girl panties" on!! She was so excited and I wanted her to have a great day...accident free. She did well and only had two small accidents...once on the playground and she didn't make to the potty in time after her nap. But she did go! Which was SUPER!

Yesterday we had success as well! She told me when she need to go and went. I was so proud of her!

Today at school she was accident free!!!! WAHOO! She was so happy when I picked her up and she told me she went to the potty several times. What a great feeling for me knowing that she was so happy for herself!

My funny moment starts now...:)

Yesterday was our first "poop" incident. Yep, you know where I'm going with this.

I had to go downstairs to get some more toilet paper for Abby's bathroom. I told her that I'd be right back while she sat watching a movie on TV. I wasn't gone but maybe a minute and when I came back up she was already in her bathroom.

She was "looking" at what she was doing then would stare at me. She told me, "mom there's dirt in there!" (haha) I told her, "No, you're pooping Abby! That's great! Keep going!" I think she was a bit scared but she finished and hopped off the toilet. I gave her a big hug and she was so excited that she said, "Yay, I made chocolate mommy!!" I about died from laughter!

Now this is a story that I will never forget!

Mommy & Abby

Last week Abby and I took some photos at JCPenney's. We needed to update our "mommy & me" photos. We had such a fun time with each other (as always!). We also took her Easter portraits as well and I'll post those next.

She looks so grown up now!

Zzzzzzzzz's....

I have to post this story since this rarely happens.

Earlier this week Abby and I went to have some Easter portraits taken. We were there for nearly an hour and 1/2. It's getting harder and harder to get our sweet Abby to smile and when she does she often is looking away at something else besides the camera!

After coming home she immediately went upstairs to play (so I thought). We hadn't been home very long and I was getting ready to prepare lunch for us. I could hear her on the monitor so I knew she was okay...then it got quiet.

As I made my way to her room this is what I found...

She had grabbed her nap mat and blanket (along with Honey Bear) and fell asleep on the floor. She had gone to sleep at noon! Yes, NOON!
She ended up sleeping for nearly 3 hours! I guess being photographed takes alot out of ya!!

Twinkle Toes

Last week I decided to give myself a pedicure one morning. Abby has never had any interest in having her toes painted until now. She told me she wanted them pink. (well, of course!) She amazingly stood very still while I brushed her pretty toes. Viola! She was so happy that she was giddy all morning!

Dan's birthday

Last weekend Dan celebrated his 46th birthday. We started out the day by going to church and thanking him for all our blessings He has bestowed upon us. We had a light lunch and then really had a feast at Savoie's Cajun Restaurant. And oh wasn't it DELICIOUS!!!!

Dan had his usual 5 pound tray of crawfish and me..well, I tried a new dish: Snapper Barataria. Grilled red snapper topped with shrimp & crabmeat spicy cream sauce. SUPERB! And Abby had the oh-so-good chicken tenders but as you will see from the pictures she was more interested in playing with her new friend, Mr. Crawfish (she named him that).

We ended our dinner with a mouth-watering Bread Pudding for dessert. By far, the best we have ever eaten! (yes, surprisingly we had room for dessert!)

After heading home to finish out the evening we concluded with a birthday song and opening presents.

What a wonderful day! Happy Birthday Dan! We love you!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

The birthday boy and his crawfish!

Abby with her new friend, "Mr. Crawfish."

Yep, she wanted to put him on her hand...she was playing with him so much!

Is your mouth watering yet??

Snapper Barataria... oh-so-good!

Our awesome bread pudding! Totally sinful!

Happy Birthday to you!!

Birthday fun for me!

On March 1st, I celebrated my 36th birthday! Wahoo! I remember as a kid thinking 30 was really old...haha! Now, hey I'm still looking younger than my age and AARP hasn't been calling me to subscribe to their services. So that's a good thing!

When Dan came home from work he surprised me with a beautiful cake! One of his co-workers fiancee makes cakes on the side and she made one for me! It looked so good and smelled delicious...Thin Mint Chocolate Cake! We couldn't wait to dig into it later that evening.

We went out to dinner and has such a wonderful evening. We headed out to a new place we haven't tried yet...Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro. It's located on the Boardwalk so it was relatively close by. Also being that it was a Monday, we were able to walk right on in and get a table.

My cake! Yummy!
We started out with some drinks...Dan: a Jolly Rancher martini and Me: a Sex in the City martini! So tasty and went down smooth. Abby had her usual water in case you were wondering but she did want to say, "CHEERS!" She loves saying that when we get our drinks!

My "Sex in the City" martini...smooth!

We decided to order Abby's child-sized pizza since she was getting hungry already. Boy, that was huge! We all could of had that pizza! It was pretty yummy...we nibbled on what she didn't eat.
yep, we checked to make sure it was CHILD SIZED!
Shortly after, our entrees were brought out and they looked very delicious! Dan ordered the Rosemary Grilled Shrimp and I had the Crawfish Ravioli. Both dishes were outstanding! We didn't talk much after that...just ate! :)

Doesn't that look yummy! Crawfish ravioli!!

Dan's yummy grilled shrimp!

After our meal, I somehow found room for one last nightcap...a mojito! Hey, cut me some slack...it was my birthday after all! :) After that we headed on home to cut the cake!

Abby and Dan sang Happy Birthday and we blew out the candles! Then we dove into the cake...

I opened up my presents and got two wonderful gifts! My limited edition "Hall & Oates" CD...love those guys! And a lavendar/vanilla reed diffuser....my new addiction!

What a fantastic evening! I felt like a queen that night and couldn't of asked for better company! Abby asked me, "mommy, when is the next party??"... haha! Well, Daddy's is just around the corner!
